The Indy Lights Championship is the league's second-tier American open-wheel series. It is heavily orientated towards the Indy Lights concept and thus mirrors the usual Indy Lights weekend schedules, which contains a x minute Qualifying, followed by a race over various lengths.

History

Indy Lights Championship (2021–present):

With the creation and start of the IndyCar Series, it quickly became clear that it'll need a feeder series in the long run and thus it was introduced right with the beginning of the IndyCar Series.

Race weekend

On Sundays, drivers have a x-minute qualifying session. The qualifying session decides the grid order for the race, run over a time of x minutes.

Point system

2021 onwards

All races will be run with a scoring system similar to the one used in FIA series:

  • Each driver has to drive 50% of race distance to be eligible for points.
